Boy gets radicalized after Zomato delivery person takes more than the expected time to deliver his food order

Abdul Majid was just 22 years old when he left Kerala to join IS militants in Syria on September 2019.
Majid’s family lives in Kerala – a state with a high literacy rate and a high Muslim population. Before Abdul left for Syria, he was studying chemical engineering and was often seen in chemistry lab doing random explosion however his professors couldn’t foresee and considered him a curious student.

Almost a year ago, Abdul posted a Facebook post expressing his anger after Zomato delivery boy took more than the expected time to deliver the food. Abdul believes that the late delivery was deliberate because he’s from a minority community. That was the day that marks the beginning of his radicalization.

Efforts by his parents to stop him being radicalized and leaving the country failed.
