Big News is coming in from Freedom House which assesses the state of political rights and civil liberties. Reportedly, India has slid down in democracy ranking after intolerant Indian government asked X (formerly Twitter) to withhold X accounts who are spreading fake news to create disharmony and violence in India.
Speaking to The Fauxy, Freedom House President said “Like Dark and Light coexist, similarly Fake News and Truth coexist, by suppressing Fake News, Modi Govt is suppressing Truth too, and this is hampering Democracy”.
In its recommendation, Freedom House has said that the Modi led Indian Govt must allow Fake News against the government and state to let people of opposite ideology breathe.
