On Sunday, Air India suspended two of its pilots, citing a lack of civic sense after their aircraft entered the frame of an influencer who was shooting a video at the airport.
Sources suggest that the plane was taxiing when it came behind the influencer while she was filming, causing serious disruption to content creation and forcing a retake. This resulted in immense backlash from the influencer community, which led to losses of ₹15,000 crore for Air India.
An Air India spokesperson assured the influencers, saying, “Our pilots are trained to deal with turbulence, bad weather, and technical failures. Influencer frames are a new challenge, and corrective action has been taken.”
As disciplinary action, the pilots have been asked to write a 1,000-word essay on civic sense before they are allowed to resume duty.
