Economists around the world are betting on a significant jump in the Indian economy if the NDA wins the election, but former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has hinted at a recession; he said full details will be revealed on June 4th.
He predicted the recession of 2008, after which he was in the limelight for quite some time. Since then, it seems he has developed an addiction to delivering bad economic news. A staunch critic of Modi’s government, Rajan recently joined Rahul Gandhi on his Bharat Jodo Yatra to discuss economic strategies, soon after which Congress announced plans to provide ₹1 lakh monthly to poor families and implement a wealth redistribution scheme.
Rajan has consistently predicted India’s economic decline, though these forecasts have not yet come to pass. Speaking to The Fauxy, he said, “Although I am a qualified economist but when it comes to India, I go with my gut feeling. I learned to trust my instincts after watching the film ‘Jannat,’ starring Emran Hashmi.”
People can’t believe that the man whose autograph was once carried by every Indian in their pocket is now ready to go to any length to secure a Rajya Sabha seat on a Congress ticket.
