Playing 11 to be selected by a panel consisting BCCI, Venkatesh Prasad and Chief Justice of India: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Thursday quashed the present system of selection of players by the BCCI. Reportedly, seeing the massive outrage by the people of India against the selection of KL Rahul, Supreme Court ruled that a panel of selectors, Venkatesh Prasad and Chief Justice of India will make the appointments.

Criticizing the government and BCCI for not upholding the spirit of democracy by ignoring the voice of masses who were demanding drop of KL Rahul from the playing 11, the Supreme Court said in its verdict.

Supreme Court was hearing an urgent plea filed by Venkatesh Prasad demanding dropping KL Rahul from 12th floor or playing 11. Introducing himself as Amair Sohail finisher, Venkatesh Prasad requested Supreme Court to intervene in the matter.

The seven judges bench led by CJI delivered its verdict seeking a collegium-like system for the selection of Playing 11. In its verdict the bench said “Collegium is the best system in the world and soon same system will be used to appoint Prime Minister, President, Army Chiefs, and Bigg Boss winner.
