Big news is coming from Delhi, where Netflix is sued for showing some true information in its series ‘IC814: The Kandahar Hijack‘. The lawsuit came from a JNU student who bought a Netflix subscription expecting to see pure propaganda in favor of Islamic terrorists but instead saw some truth in the form of news agency ANI’s footage.
As part of a PR campaign for ISIS and related Islamic terrorist groups, Anubhav Sinha and Netflix created a fictional version of the 1999 Kandahar Hijack. The series aims to generate sympathy for these groups, who have been forcefully stopped from spreading their religion peacefully. The creators even changed the names of Islamic terrorists to Hindu ones, whitewashing real history. However, in later episodes, they included actual ANI footage, which angered the viewer who expected a completely rewritten version of the hijack.
Fauxy sources suggest that “Netflix reached out to the viewer and explained to him how it is important to mix some truth in fiction to make propaganda more believable. After that, the viewer agreed to withdraw the lawsuit”.
Reportedly, Netflix and Anubhav Sinha are currently preparing a documentary, which will show how the Indian army conducted a surgical strike on peaceful terrorist camps in Pakistan without any provocation, as a next step in their PR campaign.
