NCERT Std VI History Book Contains Incorrect Independence Day 16th May 2014 And First PM As Sardar Patel

Textbooks for Class VI have reached the market, and an expert has pointed out the erroneous date and fact printed in the history textbook. In the last chapter of the book explaining India’s freedom movement, the date when India attained independence is mentioned as 16th May 2014 instead of 15th August 1947. This is not the only mistake, the books also referred to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel as India’s first Prime Minister.
The central bureau of government that is behind this goof-up is none other than NCERT who produces textbooks and conducts research on educational curriculum. Prof. Damodardas, an academic and former member of the CBSE noticed these mistakes. He said, “Various dates and information about the country presented in the book are factually incorrect. I have written a letter to NCERT’s chairman but he pointed out that it’s not possible to change the curriculum in the middle of the year.”
The bigger shock came when Prof. Damaodardas realised that the 1st term examination paper had these question and almost all the students got the answer right as per the textbook, even when a majority of students don’t refer to NCERT text textbooks.
