A manager at an MNC in Gurugram has started bringing his mother to appraisal meetings to convince employees to accept lower hikes.
Speaking to The Fauxy, the manager said, “Last time I hired consultants for cost-cutting, they cost more than they saved. So this time, I brought my mother because, when she can convince a seasoned shopkeeper to sell a ₹2,000 item for ₹300, these employees don’t stand a chance. Plus, I can steal her credit for saving the company a ton of money, and she won’t even mind.”
However, after seeing their colleagues accept lower hikes—and some even agreeing to pay cuts—one employee brought his own mother, and the hike negotiations that started three days ago are still ongoing.
