A 45-year-old man has finally quit tobacco after hearing a rumour that it might contain protein.
Reportedly, like most Indians, the man also viewed protein with suspicion and hatred, believing it damages the kidneys. His fears were further reinforced after hearing about young people dying at gyms. So, the rumour of tobacco containing protein finally convinced him to quit—something he had refused to do for the past 25 years despite repeated government warnings, graphic labels and emotional appeals from friends and family.
Speaking to The Fauxy, the man said, “If I had known this earlier, I would never have touched tobacco. I have unknowingly damaged my kidneys.”
Currently, the man is consuming excessive carbs to reverse the damage the protein might have done to his body.
