Twitter’s new verification policy has been questioned by users who have said that it is “arbitrary” and the same is being awarded by Twitter employees on the basis of their personal likes and dislikes rather than any “algorithm” as Twitter claims. Even the renowned journalists couldn’t get their account verified while accounts known for anti-India activities have been given verified badges.
Reportedly, a man desperate to get his account verified went far and joined a terrorist organization and mentioned the same in his bio (description) and applied for verification. His verification is under process and is likely to be given a verified badge.
If sources are to be believed Twitter is likely to update its verification policy yet again and this time pronouns in bio will be a must for getting verified.
