Unlike a private firm employee, the petrol price received multiple hikes and crossed ₹100 mark. Govt is facing heavy criticism and outrage over the sky high fuel prices and found itself in a position where nothing significant can be done.
However, today after a marathon meeting with finance minister in Niti Aayog , the government has decided to give some relief to the citizens and has reduced the internet data prices with immediate effect. Speaking to The Fauxy, a govt representative said “Due to country opening up after lockdown people have started travelling unnecessarily, we can’t really impose another lockdown but all we can do is to reduce the internet data so that people can do meetings over video or voice calls. Also, it will keep some people busy with social media especially Instagram reels”
Govt advisors have called it a bad idea as many of the people outraging on high fuel prices will make memes in govt and upload it on social media, giving govt a bad image globally.
“Wow! This is a big news, I wanted to visit my family and couldn’t because of high petrol price, but no worries, I would rather watch some Insta reels that will help me forget that I have a family”.
