On Friday, Reuters photojournalist Danish Siddiqui was killed while covering a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters near a border crossing with Pakistan.
Danish Siddiqui was recently in the news when he clicked photos of funeral pyres of people dying due to covid. The same photos were later available to purchase.
Danish Siddiqui was Pulitzer prize winner for his photos of dying people, ironically when he was shot dead a man clicked a photo of his dead body and provided it to various media outlets. Reportedly, the same man who clicked the photo of the dead body of Danish Siddqui has now nominated himself for upcoming Pulitzer prize. Man has also uploaded the photo on online photo purchase websites and kept the cost $100.
