Zoom Launches Make Up Filters To Encourage Women To Actively Participate In Meetings
With thousands of beauty filters available on popular photo and video sharing social networking service, Instagram, a majority of women are now spending considerable time on the app, impacting their work life balance. To address the same, Zoom, a video telephony app, known for its professional work related calls, is now set to launch over 100 make up filters.
Reportedly, the app was forced by MNCs and other companies to take this decision. The idea was first proposed by Infosys, where not a single woman appeared in video call to attend the Director’s address to the employee. Later, it was learned that women employees weren’t comfortable coming without makeup and covid kept them away from basic grooming.
“I do not want pay hike, I ado not want equal pay as men employee either, all I am asking is to make me appear good in video calls. Thanks to Zoom, it shall now happen!” said a female employee of Infosys.
All other MNCs too joined the voice of Infosys and wrote a letter to Zoom, Google meet and Skype to introduce makeup filters. While Zoom has complied, Google meet and Skype are yet to respond.
