“Was Just Killing Mosquitoes!” Says Man Arrested Under Sedition After Clapping On Rohit Sharma’s Dismissal
Yesterday, in a much-awaited contest between India and Pakistan at the World Cup 2019, India thrashed Pakistan badly after the match was reduced to only 40 overs owing to bad weather. However as expected, the match witnessed hyper-nationalistic reactions as most Indians turned it into a war-like situation. Chants of “Jai Hind” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoed in the stadium all throughout the match. However, there was one exception to this. A person who allegedly celebrated Rohit Sharma’s dismissal.
Sameer, a cricket enthusiast and a resident of Muzzafarnagar, reportedly clapped after Rohit Sharma, who scored a century, got out. Sameer’s family members and his neighbours reported the incident to the nearest police station after which Sameer was taken into custody under sedition charges. Sameer’s case hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
“I had a serious doubt on him because when I asked him whom do you want to win, he did not say India, instead he said he wanted cricket to win! Its good that these anti-nationals are getting arrested!” said Sameer’s neighbour.
Sameer in his defence said something that isn’t convincing but can’t be ruled out either. He said “Due to the arrival of monsoon there were a lot of mosquitos and one of the mosquitoes had been troubling me throughout the match. When I tried to kill him, it was at that exact moment that Rohit Sharma got out! I am innocent. I am being framed.”
“I am a huge Rohit Sharma fan but a bigger fan of cricket!” he further added, keeping alive the mystery.
