Srilankans Laugh and Smile While Dying of Hunger to Keep up the Happiness Index

Sri Lanka is in the extreme of an economic crisis that is possibly the worst it has ever faced. There are queues for fuel and food, prices of essentials have risen, there are 10-hour power cuts all leading to protests as the government desperately attempts to seek foreign aid. However, despite all this Sri Lanka has been ranked above India and many other countries in global Happiness Index.
In such tiring times when people are dying in Sri Lanka, many Srilankans were seeing smiling and even laughing. Upon asking why are they not pained with the ongoing economic crisis, they said that they are pained and distressed but want to keep up the global happiness ranking of Sri Lanka.
Many Srilankans have put mask of their leader smiling to hide their pain. Another country, Pakistan which is in Political turmoil and people have lost faith in their leader has been ranked good.
Sources suggest that many countries are now praying for economic crisis to improve their happiness index. Many Indians have written letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to take bad economic policy decisions to improve India’s happiness ranking.
