Srilankan Wicket Keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana Supports Darren Sammy; Says His Own Team Players Call Him Kalu.

Despite lockdown cricketing actions seems to continue after Darren Sammy alleged that he and Thisara Perera were called ‘Kalu’, which in Hindi means black, during his playing days with the SRH team in IPL. Controversy erupted after Ishant Sharma’s Instagram post confirms Sammy’s allegations.

New in the controversy is former SriLankan cricketer Romesh Kaluwitharana accused his own team players of calling him Kalu.

Speaking to The Fauxy, Romesh Kaluwitharana said “While taking tin between the wickets Sanath used to call me Kalu, even during wicket keeping all the bowlers used to call me Kalu. I didn’t realise then but now when Darren Sammy has said I also feel empowered and want to make my voice hear”

Sanath gave clarification that his surname has ‘Kalu’ in it but SriLankan cricket board didn’t find the racist slur justified as his surname as ‘Witharna’ too.
