Removing Drug Cartel and Bollywood Drug Mafias Will Further Reduce India’s GDP: Economists

The COVID pandemic and the subsequent strict nationwide lockdown have resulted in economic devastation, impacting millions of people who belong to the informal economy, which constitutes over 80 percent of the Indian Economy. Demonetization and GST were a big blow to the Indian economy and if economic experts are to believed, Narcotics Bureau’s attack on ‘Drug Cartel’ and ‘Bollywood Drug Mafias’ will further push India’s GDP downward.

Speaking to The Fauxy, Economic Expert CK Mukherjee said, “See Indian runs by its informal economy street vendors, service providers, and drug peddlers, etc. If you catch them then they’ll be discouraged to buy or sell drugs in the drug market, which constitute over 9% of India’s GDP”.

Reportedly, 44 Bollywood personalities have asked govt not to investigate Drug cases to save the economy.
