The highest sporting honour in the nation, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award will now be known as Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday.

The move drew mixed reactions from the netizens with a majority hailing it. However, Congress would be President Rahul Gandhi made a gaffe soon after the announcement. Reportedly, Rahul Gandhi mistakenly wrote ‘Major Dhyanchand’ in Father’s column in an Application Form. Sources suggest that Manmohan Singh was helping Rahul Gandhi in filling the form and he whispered to hint Rahul Gandhi ‘Khel Ratna Award is named after’ in father’s column, in front of media.

In another similar news, an UPSC aspirant has filed a writ petition against UPSC commission, claiming he marked the right answer for ‘After whose name the Khel Ratna Award is named?” UPSC Mains are likely to be postponed since more students are likely to clear prelims after the renaming of the Khel Ratna award.
