Twitter has launched the $8 verification service for a limited number of iOS users in five countries as its new owner Elon Musk works to revamp the platform’s verification system and cut down the losses. Elon Musk had announced that $8 will be adjusted to country’s PPP (Purchasing Power Parity).
However, despite adjusting the $8 to PPP, Twitter blue monthly subscription is costing ₹719 in India. On the other hand Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif is asking Elon Musk to pay 10 Pakistani Rupee (PKR) for every Twitter Blue subscription saying Pakistan is under huge debts and if $8 is adjusted to Pakistan’s PPP it would come as a negative 10, which would mean getting 10 PKR for every Twitter Blue Subscription.
Soon after the news, Pakistani Twitter witnessed massive growth and in a short span of 4 hours, 3.5 million new accounts were created.
Replying to Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s demand, Twitter new owner Elon Musk replied “I appreciate, now pay $8”.
Pakistan has warned Elon Musk to pay or face it at International Court of Justice. Details Awaited.
