Food delivery apps Zomato and Swiggy reported a nationwide outage on Wednesday that appeared to have been caused by an Amazon Web Services snag that many online platforms rely on. For over an hour Indians couldn’t order their food. However, considering this as an opportune moment, the European NGOs of Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe rushed to India to calculate India’s hunger index.
Due to food app outage, the hunger Index pf the country witnessed a sharp decline in its hunger index, India;s hunger index is reported to be worse than Ukraine, a war-torn country, and Srilanka, which is observing economic crisis and emergency.
India’s food consumption is currently at its lowest due to Muslims’ Ramzan and Hindus’ Navratri coinciding with food apps outage.
“Damn! Finally. This is what we have been waiting for. India’s hunger index worst among all the countries, including African countries too” said the employee of NGO that calculates World Hunger index.
