Mumbai: The Kween of soap operas Ekta Kapoor has alleged that Megan Merkel has lifted Kapoor’s formula of hit daily soaps to garner TRPs for her interview with Oprah Winfrey. Kapoor has sued them for Intellectual Property theft. Ekta Kapoor is known to make daily soap depicting sob stories of filthy rich families that make viewers (mostly women) cry rivers and yet stay glued to TV. Her serials often have families with dummy male characters and cunning, bitchy female leads who wear designer clothes and expensive jewellery.
Ace director claimed that Megan Merkel is making up stories about the Royal Family which seemed lifted straight from any ‘K’ series serial. ‘The Queen, Ms Merkel and Kate Middleton play the leading ladies while Prince Charles, Harry & William play dumb male leads who see dirty family linen being washed in public but fail to take control of the situation. After having a month long dream wedding in an obscenely rich family, a perfect bride finds her marriage on rocks’. Tell me if this is not the story of every other show I have made till date, quipped Ekta Kapoor while talking to her script writer who was re-wording the script of her previous show for another new show.
