Man makes himself diabetic to avoid additional GST on caramel popcorn during movies
To avoid additional GST on caramel popcorn during movies, a man from Mumbai deliberately made himself diabetic.
The man was prediabetic and only ate caramelized popcorn while watching movies, as it was his favorite. But when he heard about the 18% GST on popcorn, he gave up his medications to become fully diabetic so he’d have to stop eating popcorn and save some money.
Speaking to The Fauxy, the man said, “The way things are going, the day is not far when even smelling others popcorn will also be taxed“.
