As the month of Sawan dedicated to Lord Shiva begins today, marking the beginning of the Kanwar Yatra, the Haridwar administration said they will strictly watch state borders to prevent devotees from entering Haridwar for the pilgrimage. Supreme Court too has given its verdict against the Kanwar Yatra. However, the same Modi government and the Supreme Court turn blind eye towards the farmers protest, which has been a leading cause of covid cases in Punjab and adjacent states.
Kanwarias have decided to take the leverage of the government and Supreme Court’s bias. Reportedly, Kanwars will be travelling with the protesting farmers who are also organising tractor rally. Protesting farmers openly flout the covid norms and the govt and police don’t dare to take action against them as they’re vote bank too.
Speaking to The Fauxy, a Kanwaria said “Our Home minister is always lenient on protesting farmers, no matter what they say and do. So we have decided to wear turban and decorate our vehicles to complete our Kanwar Yatra without getting caught”
