Big news is coming in from New Delhi, where Indian Railways has announced its new revenue idea of offering train decoupling as suicide pods like Switzerland. The idea was inspired by the recent death of a railway worker who was crushed between two coaches during decoupling.
Indian Railways, to increase its revenue, has been taking many steps, from reducing the number of affordable sleeper and general coaches for more expensive AC coaches to gaining more commission from insurance companies by encouraging people to take travel insurance by reducing safety, leading to the derailment of multiple trains. After the death of a recent worker during decoupling, they got another revenue idea and started offering services as suicide pods like Switzerland.
In an exclusive interview with The Fauxy, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched this initiative by sharing an edited reel of the worker dying during decoupling as a promotional video and said, “I promised to bring European technology to India, and now I have fulfilled my promise.”
Currently, after seeing the Indian public more interested in shooting videos of the accident instead of helping, Indian Railways is planning to charge people for shooting the videos of people dying in these pods as another revenue tream.
