Haryana leaves Kerala behind in literacy, making a post-graduation degree the minimum qualification for a sweeper’s job

Big news is coming from Haryana, which has now surpassed Kerala to become the most literate state in India. The people of Haryana are so educated that even a sweeper’s job now requires a minimum qualification of a postgraduate degree. This was evident from a recent government sweeper job opening, which attracted 46,000 postgraduate applicants.

Haryana is facing an issue of over-education, as the highly educated Haryanvis are looking down on farming and have become overqualified for private jobs.

Speaking to The Fauxy, a Haryanvi youth said, “There are simply no jobs in India that match our qualifications. So, we either want to move abroad for those jobs or sacrifice and settle for government positions here.”
