Gujarati Diamond Merchant Gifts Car To 1200 Employees For Diwali; Employees Refuse To Accept Citing High Fuel Prices

Jignesh Dholakia, a Surat-based multi-billionaire, is breaking all stereotypes by turning out to be a really good boss, in fact, the best. Jignesh is treating his employees in a way no one would ever expect. The businessman, who is known to drink soda from a local pan shop every night, has gifted a high-end Diwali reward to his employees. Believe it or not, the company has presented 1,200 cars as Diwali bonus to its employees!

The company spent as high as Rs. 80 crores on Diwali bonus this year. 1200 employees were named as the company’s best performers and were awarded cars, whereas the remaining underperforming employees were given second-hand scooters.

However, to Jignesh’s surprise, all the employees were highly disappointed with their boss and turned down the gift. In a meeting, all the employees unanimously refused to accept the gift citing increasing fuel prices as the sole reason.

To avoid embarrassment, for next year Jignesh has announced to hand over hybrid-electric cars as a gift to top performers and electric bicycle to average performers. Although it was a private affair news of refusing valuable gifts point out in the direction of public dissatisfaction with the incumbent government and it is bound to impact Modi who has been unable to control the increasing fuel prices.
