Government to Cap the Daily Butter and Cheese Usage of Street Vendors

Street vendors of India have started adding cheese to almost everything. If you are following food bloggers, then you would know about the ongoing cheese debate. Cheese and butter have become must-have ingredients to call something street food and the dishes are becoming more bizarre everyday.

However, considering the deteriorating health and early age heart-attacks, the government of India is soon bringing a law that will cap the amount of cheese and butter that a street vendor can use. Reportedly, the bill will also include a list of food items that can have butter in it.

Although the bill hasn’t been even tabled yet, multiple PILs has been filed against the bill. A parliamentarian in zero hour of the Rajya Sabha said that the Constitution allows her to eat butter and cheese whenever she likes and however much she likes, the same way the constitution allows these street vendors the freedom to put as much cheese and butter he wants. Replying to her, the Rajya Sabha speaker, Venkaiah Naidu said “Zero hour doesn’t mean Zero IQ, so please sit down”.
