Government renames SBI to Swiss Bank to avoid sharing Data

Big news is coming in from the SBI headquarters after Supreme Court Dismissed the SBI’s application seeking time till June 30 to reveal electoral bond details to EC.

Reportedly, Government is renaming SBI to Swiss Bank to avoid sharing data with the court.

Earlier today, the five-judge SC bench – headed by CJI Chandrachud – directed the bank to disclose all details by tomorrow. However, the court’s direction is for SBI and if by tomorrow the name of the bank is changed the SC direction would become null and void.

Previously, SBI requested SC to extend deadline for sharing electoral bond data, claiming that due to server issue OTPs are not received. Read here.

The Fauxy sources suggest that the renaming of the Bank will be done before tomorrow and as the incumbent government had promised to bring Swiss Bank details in public domain but never delivered, the renaming process will help the SBI in not sharing its data to public or to court.

However, there are speculations that government might end collegium and bring NJAC by tomorrow to save SBI.

More detail on this is awaited.
