An engineering student of Chandigarh has invented something that could prove to be a boon for generations to come. Maninder Singh, a final year student of TP College of Engineering, Chandigarh, has developed a portable speed breaker that can be installed and incorporated into railway tracks, so as to control the speed of the trains which are running on time.
Speaking to The Fauxy, Maninder said “The recent mishap at Amritsar made me come up with something to avoid train accidents. After a thorough analysis of various facts and details, I realised that the train in the recent mishap was on time, which in itself is a rare phenomenon. This is something nobody anticipated. I think the public does not have the mindset to put up with punctuality as of now, especially when it comes to Indian Railways. This is where my invention shall come handy.”
If reports are to believed, Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife who was the guest speaker for the event herself arrived late by hours and caused the entire event to be delayed.
“A guest arriving late is something very common and quite customary in India and the same applies to trains too. This is utterly surprising what happened. So railways are to blamed!” said the event organiser.
Maninder is expected to be awarded an award by the Punjab Government under the best invention category who reiterates the opinion that trains not running late is one of the prime reasons for train accidents that are happening lately.
