A Delhi tea seller has installed an air purifier in his shop after noticing a sharp decline in cigarette sales, as people were buying only tea and inhaling free Delhi air instead of smoking.
Reportedly, as breathing in Delhi became equivalent to smoking 40 cigarettes a day, people on their chai-sutta breaks stopped buying cigarettes altogether — choosing to simply sip tea and breathe the city air for the same effect. To protect his livelihood, the tea seller enclosed his open shop and installed an air purifier inside, ensuring that people coming for tea would once again have to buy cigarettes to get their daily fix.
Currently, the Delhi government is installing AQI measuring sensors in his shop so they can report low AQI numbers.
