BREAKING: Emergency gets clean chit from Censor Board after filmmakers rename Indira Gandhi’s assassins from ‘Satwant Singh’ to ‘Satyam Sharma’ and ‘Beant Singh’ to ‘Vineet Shukla’

Big news is coming from Mumbai, where the film Emergency has passed the Censor Board certification after the filmmakers have changed the names of Indira Gandhi’s assassins from “Satwant Singh” to “Satyam Sharma” and “Beant Singh” to “Vineet Shukla”

The filmmakers got the idea after the recent Netflix release IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which, like Emergency, is based on true events, was passed by the Censor Board without any issues. In that series, the names of the Islamic terrorists were changed to “Bhola” and “Shankar.”

Speaking to The Fauxy, the Emergency filmmaker said, “From Jodha Akbar to Shikara and now IC 814, the Censor Board has been very clear that movies or series made in India need to rewrite or whitewash historical events to get certification. It was our mistake to try to show the truth, but learning from our mistakes, we have changed the names of Indira Gandhi’s assassins”.

The Censor Board of India is very happy with the changes made in the movie Emergency and is not only issuing a certificate but also recommending it for awards and recognition.
