In a landmark decision, the BCCI on Thursday announced equal match fee for its centrally-contracted female and male players in a bid to promote gender equality in the country’s most popular sport.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter to announce the significant development. Soon after the announcement, PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) too announced pay equity policy for its men and women cricketers.
However, unlike BCCI, PCB reduced the salary of men cricketers to bring it at par with women cricketers. “This is a landmark decision that will not only improve Pakistan’s economy but also give a strong message to the world who believe that in Islam women are less than men, they may be but only slightly” said PCB head Ramiz Raja
“Inshallah! It will also be a punishment for Pakistan men cricket team for losing against India” said Shoaib Akhtar
