India’s #MeToo movement has become a catalyst for confronting sexual predators especially in Bollywood and the News Media Media industry. With each passing day, one or the other person is getting exposed for their perversion. The half-hearted apologies of the accused are further confirming that the allegations levelled against them are indeed true.
Almost everyone who has been accused till date is proficient in English which is clearly evident from their apology statements, which have no sense of guilt or regret but only comprises of lesser known English words. Naming, however, is not justifying.
By rendering an apology in an articulate manner, these people are not only impressing many but also unlocking journalism opportunities for themselves. Maybe that is why not a single accused has been fired from his/her job yet and all of them are getting away with their crimes easily.
However, Among these Tharoorians, there’s a man who has been accused of sexually harassing someone even though he cannot speak English, let alone write long threads to defend himself. Observing the situation at hand, it has now become almost impossible for him to get away as easily as his English speaking elite counterparts.
This is not the first time that someone got away after indulging in a series of heinous crimes just because he or she was silver-tongued in the English language. On a previous occasion, the British Empire ruthlessly exploited India for 200 years without facing any consequences thereafter.
