In the first local body election in Tihar, the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) emerges as the single largest party. The party fought the election under the leadership of jailed minister Satyendra Jain. The party got strengthen in Tihar after Delhi Ex-Home Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested and kept in Tihar for alleged Liquor Policy scam.
Satyendra Jain who’s been in jail for over six months now, strategised the election and other jailed AAP leaders like Tahir Hussain supported him. Conviction of more AAP leaders helped the party get more votes.
Two AAP MLAs Convicted
Recently, Delhi High Court convicted 17 people for attacking DelhiPolice, two out of them were sitting MLA’s namely, Sanjeev Jha and Akhilesh Pati Tripathi. These conviction ensured that AAP gets the comfortable majority in Tihar.
Speaking to The Fauxy, Satyendra Jain said “we have comfortably won Tihar local body election, and soon after the arrest of newly sworn in ministers Atishi and Saurabh, we will have 3/4th majority in Tihar”.
