The judges of India will now be elected through public voting, as the judicial reforms that India has been waiting for finally happened today.
Reportedly, from decisions on the dogs of Delhi to the Aravalli Hills and the Kuldeep Sengar case, courts have stayed and even changed their decisions based on public outrage. Seeing this, both the government and the judiciary thought that when judges already give whatever judgment they feel like and change it once there is public outrage against it, then why not just let the public decide it.
Speaking to The Fauxy, a judge said, “Finally, now we can clearly take sides toward our favourite political parties and ideologies instead of just exercising it latently through our judgments.”
Currently, the judges have started fighting among themselves over whether elections should be conducted using ballot papers or EVMs.
