A Traffic Police officer was caught red-handed taking a bribe after an EV owner failed to provide a Pollution Under Control certificate or PUC.
However, in his defence, the officer said, “I couldn’t let him go just because he was sitting in an expensive vehicle with fancy features, while I’ve fined petrol and diesel vehicle owners for the exact same thing. Rules are the same for rich and poor alike. And since I couldn’t fine him legally for not having a PUC, I fined him personally. It wasn’t a bribe.”
The officer is currently in court, where the judge has fined him personally to declare him not guilty.
