Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said the speed at which the number of pending cases is rising in various courts of the country is a matter of concern. Reportedly, there are over 4.7 crore cases are pending in courts across the country.
However, Supreme Court Judges clarified that the pending cases have witnessed rise only recently and Ex-BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma is single-handedly responsible for these pending cases, which is becoming a threat to the society.
Listening to a totally unrelated case, Justice Suryashant Verma said “Nupur Sharma’s loose tongue has lead to various FIRs across the country and we listen to these cases in priority to save Muslim brothers from getting provoked and after this portals like The Fauxy write satire on us forcing us to of take suo-moto cognisance contempt of court and listen to them in priority“.
CJI has appealed to public to not have opinions on Supreme Court and its judges to avoid contempt of court as a step to reduce overall case pendency.
