Sadhvi Pragya To Contest Elections; EC issues Anticipatory Suspension Of 48 Hours

On Wednesday Sadhvi Pragya Thakur joined BJP and announced to contest the ongoing elections claiming to win them also. Reportedly, Sadhvi’s BJP membership was extended on Tuesday. Sadhvi is likely to get a ticket from Bhopal against the former MP & CM Digvijay Singh.

The contest between Sadhvi Pragya and Digvijay Singh is bound to come down to religious lines as Digvijay Singh is very vocal about saffron terrorism and Sadhvi Pragya is a staunch Hindutva supporter.

Considering the religious undertones and Sadhvi’s statement calling the contest “Dharma Yuddha”, the Election Commission has issued an anticipatory suspension of 48 hrs to Sadhvi Pragya during which she cannot campaign.

Unlike previous times, the Election Commission is showing a stern attitude and no tolerance to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Mayawati, Yogi Adityanath, Azam Khan and Manekha Gandhi are already facing the suspension from the campaign.
