While the anti-farm law protestors unleashed havoc on the streets of the National Capital yesterday on Republic Day, Senior journalist at India Today, Rajdeep Sardesai ran absolute fake news about a ‘farmer’ dying in police firing, leading to the intensification of the already violent protest.

Rajdeep Sardesai suffered a heavy backlash from BJP supporters for his reporting and was later summoned by I&B Minister, Prakash Javdekar. As it was expected Prakash Javdekar apologized to Rajdeep Sardesai and requested him to avoid fake news reporting if possible.

I haven’t promised him but I’ll try to reduce my fake news, but you know, we are vultures we feed on dead bodies, and yesterday it was just one dead body. One body so many journalists, I just tried to have enough for all of us” said Rajdeep Sardesaito The Fauxy, after their meeting got over.
