Opposition Accuses BJP Of Winning GHMC Election To Divert Attention From Ongoing Farmers Protests

After a fiercely contested Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election, four political parties are awaiting with bated breath to see who emerged as the eventual winner in 150 wards of the southern Indian city. Initial trend suggested BJP leading on more than 80 seats which would mean clear majority. Congress on the other hand is reduced to only one seat as of now.

Since the election wasn’t conducted through EVM, opposition is finding it really difficult to blame its loss on BJP or EVM. However, opposition still not taking a break and has accused BJP of winning the GHMC only to divert attention from the ongoing farmers protests.

A senior opposition leader said, “BJP could have waited and can win it some other time, why did BJP made a municipal level election look like national level. They already won Bihar, why so much hunger”
