Amid protests against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC), some organizations and individuals have been putting out polls on social media seeking to gauge how people perceive these related issues.
Recently there was a poll where the government seemed to lose out to the opposition. And the Modi govt. is not taking these polls lightly and will soon bring a bill that makes voter ID card mandatory for the voting in these Twitter polls.
Every poll will come with an option to upload your voter ID card in jpg format and only once the card is validated will you be able to vote. When Mamata Banerjee heard of this type of bill she has asked more people from Bangladesh to come here and make voter IDs and vote in these polls just like they have been doing in normal polls.
It will be interesting to see whether the govt.’s decision backfires again or not.
