Rahul Bose became an overnight sensation after his banana episode in JW Marriott. After paying 442 Rs for 2 bananas, Rahul posted in on social media and people sympathized with him for the costly ‘Fruit Platter’ served by Marriott.
But Rahul Bose was a lucky man, as he just ordered 2 bananas and had the money to pay for it. India head of Trivago, Abhinav Kumar, didn’t find that luck though. Abhinav being a digital buff hardly carries cash and pays via payment Apps or credit cards.
Last night he stayed at the JW Marriott in Mumbai. His stay was a pleasant one until he saw the invoice for his stay in the morning. Shocked at the figure written on the bill he clarified the same with the hotel manager. Imagine the guy who helps people get affordable stay in hotels going through this pain of overpaying for a stay.
Unable to pay the amount in cash and not having such credit limits on his card made him a worried man. Then stepped in the JW Marriott manager who was ready to take payment in equity. Abhinav was a relaxed man as he gave 20% equity of his company to JW Marriott and moved on from there.
We should be thankful for the kind gesture of JW Marriott as not many hotel chains show such great humanity levels.
