Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly said in the Parliament that the NRC that was applied in Assam would be implemented across the nation. Under NRC, people will have to provide documents that support their claim of being an Indian citizen.
An engineer in Mumbai named Shugato Banerjee though suffered because of his lack of clarity on the detention centers. Shugato had seen a photo of a girl’s hostel on WA which his friends told was the detention center built by the government.
Just like all other engineers, Shugato’s brain stopped working after he saw the girl’s hostel, and to prove that he is not a citizen of India and wants to be shifted to detention centers, he burnt all his ancestry documents and currently has no other document to prove his citizenship.
Actually this is the government’s ploy to circulate the picture of girls hostel, calling it as detention centers and inviting more engineers to give up their citizenship, just like Shugato.
