The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had announced a nationwide dharna on May 5 against the alleged post-election violence by Trinamool Congress workers in West Bengal. The protest (dharna) was observed today by several BJP workers, who sat on dharna at their home following all Covid-19 protocols.
While a majority of dharnas happened peacefully, a few witnessed violence. A BJP worker was sitting on dharna at his own home observing silence. However, the moment his Bengali neighbour saw his photo on social media, they rushed to his home and started beating him. Sources suggest that the BJP worker was beaten up by Bengali neighbours after his tweets mocking Bengali people’s obsession for fish resurfaced.
BJP has announced one more dharna on 7th May against the violence by TMC on Dharna against the violence by TMC.
