Petrol and diesel prices were hiked today by 80 paise a litre each, taking the total increase in rates in the last 13 days to ₹8 per litre. The Opposition has targeted the Centre over unceasing surge in fuel prices. SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav went on to call the price rise communal.
Accusing the Modi government of promoting majoritarianism, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that Modi govt is increasing the petrol price only by 80 paise to continue its politics of 80:20, which the CM Yogi started just ahead of UP election.
“Daily price rise of 80 paise not only promotes majoritarianism but also creates rift within the society for inclusiveness in the society, Govt must increase the petrol price by 80+20 i.e. 1 Rupee.” said Akhilesh Yadav
“If people can afford the burden of 80 paise rise everyday they can afford burden of 20 paise more too” said another SP leader talking to The Fauxy.
Reportedly, Government is considering the suggestion as it will not only bring inclusiveness (Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas) but also will give people a relax from petrol price rise every fifth day.
