In order to maximise their revenues, Airline companies have come up with an innovative idea of reducing legroom space so as to accommodate more seats and thereby have more travellers onboard. However, increasing cases of online reporting of sexual harassment has made airline companies a little apprehensive about the idea. The last thing they would want is to land in a legal soup.
A report pointed out that around 5% of the #MeToo stories are not intentional harassment cases by men but happens to owe to congestion and low space availability in places where both men and women are present. This raises serious concerns over the seating arrangements in the airline industry.
However, this report cannot belittle the fact that many women have been harassed by the men who have now excelled in life after objectifying women all throughout their lives.
The 5% cases, which the report talks about have forced airlines to increase their legroom spaces in the flights so as to avoid unintentional physical contact among travellers. Currently, it is not clear whether or not the same rule shall be adopted by the Mumbai Local Trains. Stay tuned for more.
