After Last Evacuation Flight From Ukraine, Govt to Continue Operation Ganga for the People of West Bengal

India will wind up Operation Ganga phase 1 — the evacuation programme for Indian nationals from war-torn Ukraine — and by tomorrow evening, the last flight will take off, bringing home the government teams sent specially for the evacuation. Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, the government has evacuated around 18,000 Indian nationals, most of them being students.

However, the government is not shutting down Operation Ganga totally. Reportedly, in the second phase of Operation Ganga, Government will be evacuating over one lakh people of West Bengal who became the victim of West Bengal post-poll violence.

Even after more than six months of West Bengal election the victims of post poll violence aren’t heard and no action has been taken against the culprits. Government has no other option other than evacuating people from West Bengal and giving them safe environment in UP.

Indians are in every corner and whenever situation in any country worsens we have to evacuate Indians from there, today we evacuated people from Ukraine, tomorrow from West Bengal.. day after tomorrow Bermuda triangle.. you never know” said an officer of Operation Ganga while speaking to The Fauxy
