A mechanic in Jahangirabad area of Bhopal has modified a Maruti 800 into an electric car. Shatib is doing modification of bikes and cars from past 18 years and he calls it Jugaad technology. Recently, after hearing arrival of Tesla, Elon Musk Electric Cars, he started modifying a stolen Maruti 800. Shatib replaced the engine with a battery and is now working on putting a Samsung tab for visual assist.
Speaking to The Fauxy, Shatib said “I didn’t know it will be such a hit, I am getting 100 cars every day for conversion, that’s more than what a catholic gets as a daily target”
Shatib has named the new modified car ‘Edison’ as suggested by one of his two educated friends.
