With 17 contestants including both commoners and celebrities, the 12th season of Bigg Boss hit the TV screens on Sunday night. Every year the producers of the show make it a point to invite participants from all walks of life who’ve lost elsewhere. However, despite maintaining diversity in the selection process, the show’s makers failed to maintain caste equality in the popular show.
The reality show is far-fetched from the actual reality of India since it has no quota/reservation system in place and no Dalit contestants. This has now triggered a lot of socialists.
As soon as this news broke, Dalit Activists came out to condemn this discrimination and from what we hear, the BHEEM Sena has already started practising for the protest by burning cars and tyres.
“Dalits should get a reservation on the Bigg Boss show. In fact, the Finale week should mandatorily have a Dalit. Instead of Salman Khan, they could hire a Dalit to host the show too, just saying!” said Jignesh Mewani.
It was recently revealed that a contestant Sourabh Patel, pretended as a high-caste farmer just in order to get selected in the show, further proving that the show is discriminating against the lower castes. In reality, he is just a struggling actor, thus having a fate worse than a Dalit individual.
One of the Dalit leaders, however, possesses a different view and believes that it’s a good sign that no Dalit is participating in the show because Bigg Boss contestants are mostly bigtime losers
