Starbucks Opens First Ever Outlet On Himalayas; Two Die In Stampede

On Thursday, Starbucks inaugurated its first ever store in one of the most famous mountain ranges of the world, i.e. the Himalayas. The range consists of many of the Earth’s highest peaks, including the great Mount Everest. At the top of the Mount Everest, there shall now be a Starbucks outlet, which is a Seattle-based coffee giant.

The Starbucks’ Mount Everest store is arguably the most elegant and dynamic store of the coffee chain and has already started drawing the attention of coffee lovers. On Friday, a day after its inauguration, the store witnessed more than a thousand customers already.

As soon as the news of the outlet’s inauguration broke in media, several bloggers and common public rushed to the spot to claim the first exclusive cup of coffee. Amidst the growing rush, a stampede claimed the lives of a husband-wife duo, whose Instagram posts suggests that they could “Literally die for a good cup of coffee.”

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson spoke to The Fauxy and talked about the intention behind opening the store at such great height – “I have always been passionate about coffee and about my company. By opening Starbucks at the top of Mount Everest I have ensured that Starbucks stays at the top among all other coffee chains and at the same time it inspires coffee lovers to trek the gorgeous mountain range. It takes care of the long queues and the rising population too. Win-win!”

One of the customers who trekked the Mount Everest to get a Starbucks coffee told The Fauxy “I love coffee and without it, I cannot start my day. This Friday I got to know that the Starbucks store near my place was closed down due to some renovation work so I decided to go to a store that’s walkable. It was only then when I decided to trek the Mount Everest store of Starbucks which can be reached only by walking.”
